Just letting everyone know that I’ll be away from phone & internet for the next 2 weeks! I return the evening of July 8th! I’ll be spending 2 weeks in Baja, Mexico on an adventure & mission trip with the organization that I used to work for, LeaderTreks! I’m thrilled to be spending this week in BAJA, MEXICO with my old friends Phil & Erin Krause, our team of 16 awesome high school students, and my co-leader Chuck. Yes, I haven’t even left yet but already said goodbye and miss Todd! Sad that sweet fiance couldn’t come :(
Even though this trip comes at a crazy time in my life… in the midst of wedding planning, juggling two jobs, falling behind in my photography work, moving apartments, and already missing my friends, OFF I go! However, I think that this will be good for me… I desperately need time with the Lord and away from work, stress, and the overwhelming to-do list. It will be impossible for me to plan or coordinate anything, so a shift in focus if probably good for me.
I thought that I’d share a bit about where I’m headed! Tomorrow early morning we fly into Cabo and make the trip north! Our first week will be spent sea kayaking in the Sea of Cortez in the Baja Peninsula.
The group that was there last week was kayaking with 50 dolphins! They covered 60 miles in 4 days. Can’t wait to get out there and explore the beautiful waters!! We’ll be sleeping without tents right on the beach and we’ll actually have some down-time for a little snorkeling and relaxing (and preparing for week 2!)
Too bad the only camera that I’ll be taking is 8 megapixels. It wasn’t cheap but I couldn’t afford the super nice underwater point-and-shoot cameras. So, the one I got is better than nothing!’
Our second week will be spent here – at the green oasis nestled in the middle of the desert and mountains.
We’ll be staying on a horse ranch, helping with projects around the facilities, and helping promote a local church plant through a VBS with the neighborhood children. Here’s a glimpse of the work (and dirt!) ahead of us…
This will be our kitchen for the 2nd week. Our students do all the cooking for the 2 weeks. Here’s hoping they feed us well! :)
And finally, our living quarters the 2nd week! Yes… taking one for the team!
So, please pray for our team while we’re out… for unity, for energy, that we would successfully advance the mission of the church plant and represent well, for patience with one another, for deep, new friendships. Pray that we would have JOY despite the heat. That we could focus on God and get away from it all, be stretched… grow… learn…. experience moments that put us in awe of our Creator. Pray for our safety, for rich time in community, and just an overall incredible experience!
No photo updates until I return. Thanks for understanding and for everyone’s patience! Especially my sweet clients/friends who are anticipating album designs or viewing their photos for the first time… thanks for not hounding me but for always understanding!
Now, I gotta wake up in 4 hrs and I haven’t slept yet. DOH!
